I see a lot of apartment construction in Midtown, are there any new options for apartments near UF?

Midtown, one of Gainesville's most highly-sought after neighborhoods, has recently experienced several new apartments near the University of Florida that make living here even better! If you're a student, then you know parking around campus can be difficult. However, you'll now find the space you've been looking for on NW 1st Avenue with 60 parking spaces, 40 bike racks and 110 scooter parking spots. In addition to more parking, the sidewalks were expanded, brick intersections were added for pedestrians, and street lighting was put in for safety and improved visibility. With these improvements came exciting new offerings like the Social at Midtown bar, Taco Bell Cantina, Chick-fil-A, Chase bank, Starbucks, Target, Publix, and a retail space under The Standard – it's everything we ever dreamed of!

Tips for Renting in Midtown

  • Don't Procrastinate: Thanks to its ideal location near the University of Florida campus, Midtown is one of Gainesville's most highly-coveted neighborhoods. Students can easily walk or bike from their Midtown apartment to popular campus destinations like Library West and the Student Rec Center. Because of this, Midtown apartments typically sell out early in the season – so don't procrastinate, start looking now.
  • Create a Budget: Now that you've picked a location, it's time to develop a comprehensive budget detailing all of your expenses and income. With a well-laid-out budget, you can easily determine the best rental price for your needs and lifestyle. First, you'll want to identify what your income will be as a student. Add up any student loan refunds, scholarships, or grants that will provide income, and any income you will make with a part time job. Next, think about your weekly and monthly expenses for necessities like groceries, utilities, car insurance, and school supplies like books. Finally, have a realistic conversation with your family about monthly contributions they will be able to make to help cover expenses. Once you have a monthly budget set, you will be able to determine how much monthly rent you can comfortably afford and still be able to set aside a bit of fun money for the weekends!
  • Narrow Your Search: Once you've created a budget, you can start narrowing down the search by amenities and features. This will make the apartment hunting process a little easier on yourself by prioritizing that things that matter most to you. Will Fido be joining you in Gainesville? Narrow the search to pet-friendly apartments in Midtown. Looking to cut down on costs by sharing your space with a few roommates? Limit your search to Midtown apartments that offer roommate matching services and individual leases.
